Victory over sin by Lamont Scott
Victory over Sin
2/10/2009
For there is no difference; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness… that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
ROMANS 3:22b-26
“Because of sin, Adam and Eve fell short of the perfection God intended for them. Because of sin, the Israelites relinquished the glory they could have experienced as God’s holy nation. Because of sin, Judas fell short of the opportunity to be an apostle of Jesus Christ. Sin will corrupt every area of your life that it touches. Sin will cause your marriage to fall short of the promise it held in the beginning. Sin will cause you to fall short as a parent, a church member, a worshiper, or a friend. Every area in your life is susceptible to sin’s destruction.
The wonder of salvation is that God completely dealt with sin. He did what we could not do. Through Christ’s sacrifice, God, by His grace, offered His salvation and canceled the penalty of our sin. By His grace, He takes a life that has fallen short of God’s best and gives it meaning. He provides the opportunity to immediately confess our sin and to be cleansed from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). He mends a broken heart. His grace erases anger and bitterness. He restores severed relationships. He takes a life devastated by sin and makes it whole. He takes our failures and produces something good.
Only God can heal sin’s devastation. Only He can bridge the gap between His glory and your sin (Rom. 3:23). You must trust Him to do so. If you will ask Him, He will free you from the bondage of your sin, reestablish your relationship with Him, and restore you to wholeness.”
Remember, Shall we continue in sin that GRACE may abound, Examine Yourself!!!!!!!!

If everybody followed you completely to the letter, tell me if they followed you, would the world be any better?

Why me, Lord?
Today is one of those days where I just want to ask God, why me Lord? Why I am having so many trials and tribulations? I’m a good person. I try not to knowingly treat anyone bad. I try to be there for everyone. I’m trying to get back on/stay on the straight and narrow path and live according to Your will. So Lord, why does it feel like my life is falling apart? Why don’t people seem to care about me like I care about them? Why aren’t I a priority to anyone? I know I’m not perfect, and I’ve made some royal screw ups in the past, so is this my punishment? How much longer must I suffer Lord? Why, why, why???
I could go on and on with the why’s. I know you know where I’m coming from.
But as I sat here feeling sorry for myself & wallowing in despair, I was reminded of all that Jesus suffered at the hands of man (and what He is still suffering at our hands when we don’t follow His will), and I just had to stop asking why.
First, life is not perfect (again the fault of man & woman) and as much as we expect/want some people to treat us like we treat them, or the way we think we deserve to be treated, it’s just never going to happen. And no amount of fussing, fighting, crying or anything else will change that sad fact.
Secondly, and most importantly, the issues I have pale in comparison to what Jesus experienced. He was betrayed, ridiculed, spat upon and the many other atrocities that were visited upon Him, but none more horrific than being hung upon that cruel cross, with nails piercing His hands and feet.
I’m still a work in progress, so I know I’ll have more of these “woe is me” days, but when I feel myself getting down, I’m just going to reflect upon all that my Saviour suffered at my hands. And then I’m going to pray, and pray constantly for the Lord to heal my hurts and give me the strength to keep on keeping on, knowing that my reward is in heaven, and not on earth.
Prayer for today
O Lord, hold my hand and guard me; help me make the right decisions and say the right words today to make life more pleasant for those around me. ~ Amen
