Be Still and Know That He Is God
Exodus 14:13 – But Moses told the people, “Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the Lord rescue you today.
Have you gotten to a point in life where it seems as if life’s circumstances are keeping you from achieving your hopes and dreams? Does it seem as if there’s no way out of your current situation? You may have lost your job, had to end a relationship, had friends and family give up on you, accumulated unforeseen expenses, had a loved one die, been diagnosed with an illness, or struggle with addictions or temptations.
In today’s text the children of Israel were confronted with a Red Sea that caused them to lose hope. The “Red Sea”, that place of overwhelming difficulty, may be stretched out in front of you, but God is your bridge over troubled water. The mountains may have you feeling like you’re trapped, but nothing’s going to stand between you and where God wants you to be. The Egyptians may be in hot pursuit trying to take you back, but deliverance is available to you.
What’s your Egyptian? Is it bad choices, unhealthy relationships, anger, jealousy, insecurity, sexual sin, depression, pride, overeating, material pleasures, self-centeredness, mismanagement of your time or finances?
Moses assured the people that they would never have to worry about the Egyptians again, and that’s God’s promise to you. He is with you and will get you through to the other side where there’s breakthrough, freedom, hope, peace, new opportunities, new relationships, provision, and protection from all the things and the people who want to take you back into bondage.
Don’t be afraid. I encourage you to be still and anticipate what God is about to do in your life. Reflect upon the good and learn from the bad. Let go of all the excess baggage that is weighing you down. You’ve made it this far. You’re still here. Don’t give up and don’t give in. With confidence, faith, prayer, a new attitude, and a new perspective, be still and know that He is God.
