Be Strong

Deuteronomy 31:6 – “Be strong and courageous.”

Have you ever had something traumatic happen in your life and someone told you to, “Be strong?” Have you ever had high hopes for something only to see them dashed to pieces? Have you ever received devastating news and had to pretend that you were okay? How many times have you let your fears hinder you from pursuing your dreams?

If you can relate to any of these situations, then congratulations, you’re human. You can admit that there are times in your life when you feel weak and want to give up. But what I love about the Word of God is that it gives us the hope and encouragement we need just when we need it.

If you continue reading this verse you’ll find that there are three reasons why you can be strong and courageous.  First, God goes with us. That’s Confidence. Second, God will not leave us. That’s Trust. And third, God will not forsake us. That’s Assurance.  You can be strong and courageous because He will never let you down. He will never disappoint you. He will never give up on you. He will never go bankrupt. He will never go out of business. He will never lay you off. He will never turn his back on you. He will never diminish, dwindle, or decline.

If you’re reading this message and you feel like you don’t have the energy or the desire to move on, take God at His Word and know that He’s already made a deposit of hope and strength and courage in you. Now it’s time for you to make a withdrawal and fulfill the purpose He has for your life. Be strong and courageous!
