Let it go

As I sit here today, saddened by the news of the loss of my supervisor’s father, I am also in a reflective mood.  I’m looking back over my life, examining old hurts, grudges I hold and ill will I bear.  I try to forgive and forget, but I am a very sensitive person, one who hurts deeply and often find it hard to forgive.  As I grow in Christ each day, I try to work on all of my faults, of which I’ll readily admit there are many.

Today, I’m reminded again of the brevity of life and the preciousness of time.  We don’t know how long we have on this earth, and we must not waste time hating and hurting.  One day, it will be too late.  We must let it go.  Let all the anger, bitterness, wrath & strife go.  Forgive so that you will be forgiven.  I know it won’t be easy, especially if you’re reminded of that hurt again and again.

When it seems hard and forgiving is the last thing you want to do, take a minute to reflect on the Savior’s nail pierced hands and feet, and His scarred side, and remember that He went to the cross for us.  He suffered the worst kind of agony so that we might be forgiven.

Don’t let another day, minute or second go by wasting time on past hurts.  Just let it go.
